The ship responsible for an oil spill that shut down Vancouver area beaches for several days remains anchored in English Bay, but it could be moving again soon.
Officials with Fisheries and Oceans Canada are reporting the Coast Guard’s role ensuring the M/V Marathassa is decontaminated has ended.
Transport Canada is now in charge.
The vessel is expected to be moved to a berth at Port Metro Vancouver where it will be inspected for any remaining safety hazards.
Investigators have not yet said exactly how much oil leaked into the water, so the estimate remains at 2,700 litres.
