Scientists have crunched the numbers, and when it comes to happiness across the country, Vancouver ranks near the bottom.
You’d think with the ocean air, the sunshine and the mountains, we’d feel great about living on the West Coast, but the latest report from Statistics Canada on life satisfaction in metropolitan areas has found the opposite.
Of all the people they looked at in Canada, Vancouver residents ranked the unhappiest, sitting at the bottom of the list with Toronto. Victoria wasn’t much higher.
If you’re in Kelowna, though, you probably have a smile in your heart coming in above the national average.
In fact, Kelowna and Saskatoon are the only western cities above the average.
Saguenay, Quebec, is the city with the happiest people across the country.
The study is based on a sample of nearly 340,000 survey respondents, who were asked to rank their life satisfaction.
