“Our deep concern at this point is a retaliation incident.”
A plea from Surrey RCMP after a 22-year-old man died this morning in what’s believed by investigators to be a homicide connected to Surrey’s drug trade.
Sgt. Dale Carr with Surrey RCMP says the city’s recent violence comes down to the people involved.
He’s urging anyone involved in the any of the recent deaths to think of not only their own safety, but the safety of those around them.
“This is not just gunplay back and forth. This has turned into murder. And it’s going to take another life of a young person; a young man. And we’re deeply concerned as a police agency and as a community.”
When asked if the detatchment needs more support from federal and provincial sources.
“We’re getting a great deal of support. You know, there’s a point in every sort of crisis…it gets to a tipping point, and we’re beyond that tipping point. And there’s somebody in that organization involved in this that has information that could come forward.”
Carr says it’s also important witnesses in the community come forward.
