After yet another shooting in Surrey, Mayor Linda Hepner is defending her police force, saying the RCMP continues to work hard on a top-priority file.
Speaking with CKNW’s Jon McComb, she says she’s frustrated that even the victims aren’t helping investigators.

She adds she is baffled how people in their early 20s are even getting guns.
“I find it unbelievable that young people think that having guns in their hand to perpetrate crimes or to be involved in this gun play is acceptable in any community.”
Two days ago, the Surrey RCMP made the usual step of releasing the names of people being sought in relation to what they’re calling a low-level “turf war.”
Surrey has seen
18 17 shootings in the last several weeks, while Delta has seen three. [Note: It waspreviosly published that there were 18 shootings, but we have now confirmed from Surrey RCMP officials that the total shootings are 17.]
