Twelve students at Surrey’s Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School are facing disciplinary action, over the exchange of inappropriate photos.
School district officials can’t say much because of privacy concerns, and because the people involved are minors.
But spokesperson Doug Strachan says the school first learned about the situation on Tuesday.
“A student reported this week to Lord Tweedsmuir school officials that some senior students had inappropriate pictures of girls in that school.”
CKNW has learned they are sexually suggestive.
The students facing discipline are both boys and girls in the senior grades.
Surrey RCMP Corporal Bert Paquet says the investigation is in its very early stages.
And while this type of thing isn’t common, he says, they do see it from time to time.
“Our officers are pulled in similar types of investigations. We hope at this time there’s nothing to warrant criminal charges being laid, but then again its something we need to keep in mind as we continue to investigate.”
Paquet says the job right now is to speak to everyone involved.
