Nicola Valley First Nations are among a group of about 25 people occupying Premier Christy Clark’s West Kelowna office.
Lower Nicola band Chief Aaron Sam is one of them, he says they are taking a stand over biosolids being dumped in the Merritt area.
“What we are seeking is a moratorium from the provincial government to quit bringing biosolids, or human waste, into the Nicola Valley so we can have a discussion with the province an how we can resolve the issue of how we can resolve the issue of biowaste being brought into the valley.”
Sam says they have had two meetings that have not resulted in any resolution with Environment minister Mary Polak.
Premier Christy Clark says with “so many hands in the pot” it is taking a lot longer to reach a resolution.
Clark adds there are no easy answers on this issue.
