Problems around the Evergreen line continue.
Global BC says at a community meeting Tuesday night in Port Moody a number of concerns were raised.
Among them: a mutual feeling of local residents worrying for the safety of their families.
“I’m very upset, since the sinkhole on Clark and they rerouted traffic right through our neighbourhood. We’ve got a school zone and people don’t care about speed zone.”
At the town hall meeting Port Moody City Councillors also grilled the Evergreen Line Staff saying traffic management has been a disaster.
Evergreen Line Executive Project Director, Amanda Farrall responds.
“Clearly what we’ve heard is a lot of concerns from the community around the detour route. We certainly understand those concerns. We’ll be working with city staff as we move forward to get those addressed as soon as possible.”
According to Global, City Councillors have voted to close Glenayre Drive to make it local only traffic, after a woman was already hit on that street during the Evergreen construction.
This could be implemented as early as today.
