A Langley man who attacked his estranged wife and step-daughter before setting their house on fire has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Andre Richard was initially facing 13 charges, but the others were dropped when he pleaded guilty to arson and two counts of aggravated assault.
Prosecutor Mike Fortino says the sentence is ‘significant.’
“The impact on the family is tremendous, and ongoing. The court reflected in its decision the significant aggravating factors.”
Provincial Court Judge Peder Gulbransen says the sentence had to reflect the severity of Richard’s crimes and history of domestic abuse, but with credit for time served, it is reduced to approximately 8.5 years.
