Another case of the measles related to a flight last month from China has been confirmed by Vancouver Coastal Health.
Spokesperson Tiffany Aikins says 11 cases are now confirmed in the region, but wouldn’t describe the 11th person, saying they only do so when the public is at risk of infection.
She says all those who’ve been diagnosed were either on a flight from Beijing to YVR on March 21, or were in contact with someone who was.
“It really underscores the need to be up to date on your immunizations and especially a good reminder for travellers that they should they are up to date with their vaccinations.”
The first four cases, reported last month, were students from a Burnaby high school who’d been on a school trip to China.
Yesterday, Fraser Health confirmed the 10th case is a student at Port Coquitlam’s Terry Fox Secondary.
