There is now a tenth case of measles in Metro Vancouver linked to last month’s Air China flight.
Ken Donahue with Fraser Health says the latest measles case is a student at Terry Fox Secondary in Port Coquitlam.
“So there is one additonal case that had been identified as a student at Terry Fox Secondary in Port Coquitlam. It is isolated to the one student at the time. As a precautionary measure our public health team has become involved and has notified students and staff at the school. Our public health team will be holding an immunization clinic for staff and students.”
Donahue says the student was infectious while at school.
“I don’t want people to be too alarmed. There is obviously is potential for other students to pick up the infection. Part of the work that our public health does is to ensure that people are immunized. That is the reason why they are notifying students and staff and will be holding the clinic.”
The immunization clinic will be held Friday.
