April 6 marks the City of Vancouver’s 129th birthday, and a recent lighthearted survey about the city has revealed some interesting points of what it means to be a Vancouverite.
Among them, “sideways rain” was unanimously labeled the worst kind of rain in the city, while “gentle spring rain” was the resounding favourite.
Spanish Banks was named the city’s favourite beach while English Bay won the title of best “date-night destination.”
Forty-four per cent say they bought a pair of red 2010 Olympic mittens, 55 per cent say they only like the Canucks when they’re winning, and an overwhelming 75 per cent like to remind everyone else that they love living in Vancouver.
Perhaps more uniquely, 57 per cent of the respondents know how to order dim sum, while 60 per cent agreed that they “eat sushi all the time.”
More than 1,100 respondents answered the Talk Vancouver survey.
