The Independent Investigations Office has been deployed to an officer involved shooting in Burnaby.
Ralph Krenz from the IIO says RCMP were called after receiving reports of a double stabbing near 14th and Willard St. One man is dead.
“Upon arrival officers came into contact with an adult male, and during that contact the affected person was shot by officers.”
The man was taken to hospital. It’s the third officer involved shooting in Burnaby in the past 12-months.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has also been deployed.
According to Daniel, who lives in the area, police began showing up around 5:30 this morning– first one police car, with lights and sirens, then another, and another, and another.
“I heard the sirens. It was one siren, two sirens, and I thought, it must be a fire down here. And then I realized that they were police cars. And it was just one after another. After the police got here I could hear a gun shot. Just a single shot. Then the ambulances should up about 15 minutes later.””
The normally quiet area is closed off by police.
