“It’s a suspicious death.”
That’s what the Integrated Homicide Investigation team is saying about the death of a 25 year old in Surrey over the weekend.
On Friday night, Surrey RCMP were called to 127th Street and 103rd Avenue.
Sergeant Stephanie Ashton with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it was called in around 1:30 Saturday morning.
That was when it was determined 25 year old Salamawit Girma’s death – in her own home – was suspicious.
“One man was taken in to custody at scene. He was interviewed and subsequently released with no charges.”
Ashton adds the woman’s husband was informed quickly, and has been cooperative with investigators.
The investigation is now focused around figuring out if foul play was a factor.
As for the police involved shooting in Burnaby which has RCMP, the Independent Investigations Office, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team investigating, Ashton says it is a parallel investigation and cannot comment at all at this time.
