Members of Vancouver’s Strathcona community continue to show their support for the victim in an attack that happened yesterday.
Hundreds of people walked the streets of the area to send a message to the person arrested in connection with the incident.
Long time resident Jamie Willock says he lives two doors down from where the attack took place.
But wasn’t home at the time it happened.
Hearing about the attack shook him to the core.
“Well, I was just shocked, really, and also really worried. I didn’t know who it was or what had actually happened. Yeah, just very nervous, and very shocked.”
Willock says the community support is no surprise, saying Strathcona residents are very tight-knit.
For one long-time resident Kevin, the walk was proof the community is staying strong for the victim.
“I think it’s great. I think it shows a lot of solidarity with the neighbourhood. It’s always been like that. People always stick together around here. It’s nice.”
Kevin says aside from small crimes – which are minimal – the area is generally quiet.
A man was arrested in connection with the attack.
