BC’s Minister of Children and Family Development continues to deflect questions about the death of baby girl in foster care more than two years ago.
“Anytime there is a critical injury or death, obviously it’s tragic that those happen. They do happen for a variety of reasons.”
For the second time this week, Stephanie Cadieux has not been able to explain why the Burnaby home where 21-month old Isabella Wiens died in March of 2013 was shut down.
“Because I personally do not have that information I can not give you that information today.”
As for why no inquest has been held, Cadieux is suggesting that’s something only the coroners service can explain.
Isabella’s mother is suing the government for failing to keep her daughter safe.
Ironically, Cadieux was speaking at a news conference announcing upgraded legal aid services to ensure the safety of children.
