Teaching support staff at Simon Fraser University voted 92 per cent in favour of job action.
Chief Steward Reagan Belan says claims SFU’s Administration has been unwilling to address or even acknowledge the problems facing its members.
“We feel as if we have been spinning our wheels, and our employer is not interested, or has been strategically, not interested, in asking us constructive questions about the problems we’re trying to address.”
Belan says job security, benefits and equity, priority access to Teaching Assistant work for graduate students, and equal pay for equal work, are among the issues they need addressed.
The TSSU represents more than 14-hundred, mostly non-tenured teaching staff at the University. Bargaining is set to resume next month.
