A new Angus Reid poll has support for teachers and the government more or less evenly split.
The online poll finds 36% support the teachers while 35% support the government.
23% don’t support either side.
Angus Reid says it support for teachers is on a downward trend compared to support levels from past polls.
However if you look at people who have kids in the school system support for teachers increases somewhat to 38%.
While 34% of parents and caregivers support the province.
Most telling is that the survey finds 89% of those polled say there is no chance a deal will be reached and schools will be open on Tuesday.
As far as economic impacts the poll found about half of those asked said the dispute would an be a hit for parents and families.
17% of those asked who have kids in the education system say they have the financial means to get by for few days or a week or two while 8% say they will not be able to manage if the strike keeps their kids at home as of next week.
