“Hope” is the keyword for school districts across the province, as the deadline for schools to open on time draws closer.
School superintendents say it’s still not clear if kids will be back in the classroom on Tuesday.
A number of districts – including Victoria, Burnaby and Langley – say they will wait until Monday evening to let parents know.
Both Surrey and Abbotsford say even if a last minute deal is reached Monday, school could open the next day.
While the Vancouver School District says it will try and open if a deal is done by early Monday evening.
Meanwhile Districts in Richmond, Coquitlam and Prince George say they are not ready to give parents an answer.
New Westminster is in the same boat.
But, across the board, districts say they are encouraged by meetings between mediator Vince Ready, the BCTF and government.
