Two hikers lost on the North Shore overnight are safe but a West Vancouver police officer says this is a text book case of poor planning.
Constable Jeff Palmer says the two from Korea missed their flight home last night but made it out of the woods on their own.
“They made it to the Lions Bay fire hall on their own and we were advised by Lions Bay fire that they had some people matching the description and we attended and found they were the people we were looking for.”
Palmer says they couple did a lot of things wrong, they were not prepared for the hike, separated from the group, and didn’t leave enough daylight to get out before dark.
Crews from both North Shore and Coquitlam Search along with West Van police took part in the search.
