Lower Mainland father drowns in Alouette River

“A very tragic end to a Monday on a long weekend.”

A heartbreaking end to the August Long weekend for one Lower Mainland family.

RCMP Regional Duty Officer Inspector Brian Massie says a father in his mid 40′s went for a swim in the Alouette River near Pitt Meadows around dinner time this evening and never re-surfaced.

“This led to a call out to the local search and rescue organization within the community and the Canada Coast Guard. The divers from the coast guard located a male adult under water, obviously deceased.”

Massie says the BC Coroner’s Service is now investigating.
