The dark side of the Boonstock music festival in Penticton led to a big bump in patients at the local hospital.

“There were 37 transfers from the Boonstock site to the Penticton Regional Hospital in the last 24 hours so that’s from 7 a.m. yesterday to 7 a.m. this morning.”

Grace Kucey with Interior Health cites the heat, dehydration and drug and alcohol use.

A 24-year-old Alberta woman died of a suspected overdose at the festival Friday night, while two others went to hospital in critical condition.
