Murders and property crime up in Surrey

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

Surrey RCMP say violent crime is down in the city while murders and property crime are on the rise

Sgt. Dale Carr has released the second quarter crime stats.

He says property crime is in fact up across the region.

“We saw a spike in the South Surrey area in this quarter where cars were being broken into, but they were left insecure on the driveway. People (are) feeling secure enough to leave it insecure on the driveway, but that’s still an open invitation for someone to rumble through.”

Carr says six people have been murdered in the last three months, but year-to-date, murders are down 42 per cent when compared to last year.

  1. How is it this article by Janet Brown doesn’t see murder as “violent”, I didn’t realize there was such a thing a kind murders. So if violent is down yet murder and property crimes are up, how is it you figure violent crime is down? just asking…………….

That’s a very interesting statement especially following yesterday’s long discussion against blaming the victim in a criminal offence.

Today we are told that parking your car in your private driveway in an unspecified insecure manner (windows open 1 inch ??) is an open invitation to crime.
Yesterday, we were told that there is no such thing as provocation by women based on the way that they dress…that they are never to blame.

The compass is spinning like a helicopter rotor.
Maybe a trip to a parade this weekend will offer some moral guidance.
