Powell Street festival finds new venue

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

The Powell Street Festival has found a new home after organizers were pushed out of Oppenheimer Park.

Dozens of homeless people have set up tents in the Downtown Eastside park to protest a lack of suitable housing in the city, and the event had to find a new venue.

It’ll take place this weekend on nearby Alexander Street and Jackson Avenue.

  1. Are not some streets shut down for other ethnic and cultural festivities which were not affected by some sort of sit-in?

What was the excuse in those circumstances? Probably none-except other than to promote a cultural celebration and festival which is a very good thing. Absolutely!
