One man injured in Vernon float plane crash

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

One man is in hospital after Vernon RCMP received a report that a small plane crashed down in the area of Six Mile Creek Road.

Several residents in the area are reported as seeing and hearing the plane go down.

The man in hospital is said to be the lone occupant of the float plane and according to RCMP, walked away from the crash with non-life threatening injuries.

Bill Yearwood with the Transportation Safety board says the Cessna 180 Float plane crashed six miles northwest of Vernon.

“Well, we’ll look into it and gather the data, but we have no plans to send anybody to the site at this time. Our hopes are the pilot is in reasonable shape and in time will have the opportunity to tell us what happened.”

RCMP continue to investigate, but it appears the lone male was travelling to Vernon from somewhere in Alberta.

Police are continuing to assist in this investigation.
