“It just takes a bump on the head from a rock, sudden spill into icy cold water and you could be left incapacitated and unable to swim out of trouble.”
That could have been the fate of five people who went tubing on the Chilliwack River Sunday afternoon.
All five are lucky to be alive to tell the story, according to Doug Fraser with Chilliwack Search and Rescue.
They lost control of their tubes, flipped them, and ended up having to swim.
“I think they were caught by surprise by the strength of the river, but other than that they were fortunate, no injuries.
Fraser says nobody was wearing a life jacket, and he suspects they had been drinking.
