Recommendations have been made by a coroner’s jury following the police-involved shooting death of Ryan Jacob in Burnaby last year.
The five person jury says the Provincial Health Ministry should investigate the addition of more advanced life support units.
It also wants the Burnaby RCMP to better train its officers when using communications equipment.
Jacob was shot three times in the stomach by police near Hastings and Macdonald in January of 2013.
The inquest heard Jacob refused to drop two knives and approached officers with the weapons before they shot him.
Jacob was the son of prominent Squamish First Nation Chief Gilbert Jacob.
