Drowning death at Cultus Lake

RCMP say alcohol was a contributing factor in the drowning death of a man at Cultus Lake Monday evening.

Cst. Tracy Wolbeck says Chilliwack Mounties were called to a report of a missing person at Entrance Bay on Cultus Lake around 630pm.

Friends told the officers they last saw their friend close to the waterline at the beach but could not locate him.

The police dog service was used to search for the man, and a short time later the victim was found in the water deceased.

Police call it a tragic incident and an unfortunate reminder of the dangers of alcohol consumption and swimming.

The Coroners Service has taken over the investigation.
