Vancouver police urge you to keep doors and windows locked at night

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

Vancouver police are out again with their seasonal warning for residents to keep their doors and windows locked to prevent break-ins in the warm weather.

Const. Brian Montague says the owners of a home on the West Side had no idea someone climbed through an open window overnight and managed to rob them without them noticing.

“With the hot weather that’s upon us, we understand that you want to keep cool at night, keep your windows and doors open. But it’s really important to make sure people can’t gain entry into your home.”

Montague says the owner’s car was found in the Downtown Eastside shortly before 5 a.m. today.
