Surrey woman fights for her life after being run down

Fundraising efforts are underway to support a 35 year old Surrey woman who lost both her legs after she was struck by a truck while sitting at a bus stop last month.

Joanne Michelin says her daughter, Kaureen Lamy’s life is forever changed, as she fights for her life at Royal Columbian hospital.

“Like all mothers, you want your children to survive such a horrific accident; you know I’m praying to god that she will make it. You know, she’s a pretty strong girl.”

Michelin, says if she survives, her life will be forever changed.

“Devastating, but we are trying to stay together and support eachothe, but it’s very very hard.”

Michelin says her daughter doesn’t know she’s lost both of her legs.

“She was told, but they don’t think that she is aware of what’s going on.”

Lamy was struck June 30th just before 8am at 148th and 88th avenue.

Michelin hopes the driver will face criminal charges.
