Federal government says no plans to change management of Granville Island

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

We are hearing from a Conservative Member of Parliament for the first time about rumors swirling over the possible change of operational control of Granville Island.

Wai Young, who represents Vancouver South, is shooting down any claims the Conservative government is making decisions in secrecy, by saying there is no plans to change management.

“We love it, and it’s been successfully managed, and unless there is other options or better options that come up, which don’t seem to be on the horizon, I think it’s a great place to be.”

Port Metro Vancouver, however, confirmed it’s in exploratory talks with the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation over the future of the tourist destination.
