BC Supreme Court to rule on Abbotsford homeless lawsuit

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

It was a full day in court, yet still no decision.

Lawyers for the City of Abbotsford are trying to strike down a lawsuit brought forward by homelessness advocates.

Pivot Legal Society represents the BC/Yukon Association of Drug War Survivors and is helping to fight against that application in BC Supreme Court.

“Abbotsford’s homeless and members of that community have come forward with a hugely constitutional challenge that could change how homeless people are treated on the street in Canada and we are hopeful that this case will go ahead and that the decision will be that these people will have their day in court and that their voices will be heard.”

Lawyer Dj Larkin says she is hopeful they can go to trial on this case before the end of the year.
