Suarez suspended for biting opponent

FIFA has taken a bite out of Uruguay superstar Luis Suarez.

Suarez, who bit Italian opponent Girogio Chiellini during Tuesday’s match at the World Cup in Brazil, has been suspended by FIFA for the next nine international matches for Uruguay PLUS the next four months of any football related activity.

Suarez is now a three time biting offender and prior to this incident had already been suspended 17 matches for his two previous biting occurrences.

The suspension will affect Suarez’s availability to his club side in the English Premier League, Liverpool.  If Suarez is suspended for four months from today, he would miss the first eight matches for Liverpool to begin this season.

Suarez had 31 goals in 33 appearances for Liverpool this past season. His annual salary is 10 million pounds (16 million dollars CDN).
