Abbotsford Police bust suspected bawdy house

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

BC police detachments are facing a grey area of the law as they investigate bawdy houses.

The federal government is re writing legislation after a number of laws were struck down by the courts, including the law banning brothels.

Abbotsford Police Constable Ian Macdonald says they busted a suspected brothel near a pair of schools in a residential area.

“Like a lot of Canadians we are waiting to see what will come into place in terms of legislation, but I can tell you who isn’t prepared to wait, and that’s area residents, people who attend the school as well as the staff and administration there, and the Abbotsford police.”

A 54 year old Vancouver woman could face charges of keeping a bawdy house.
