As CKNW reported last night, Surrey First has nominated Linda Hepner as its candidate for mayor in this fall’s municipal election.
Hepner, a current city councillor, says complex crime issues top her agenda.
Politicians often make that promise in Surrey, but the city saw an all-time record of 25 murders last year.
“I think we have made some movements. I appreciate that we have identified more than 100 new public safety officers. Within that context, I think everybody deserves to feel safe in the community and that will be our intention and my commitment.”
Long-time Mayor Dianne Watts will still be available to advise the party she created.
