After a long day of searching for a 53 year old tourist from Australia, North Shore Search and Rescue has found the man, going only by the name Rick.
Search Manager with North Shore Search and Rescue Doug Pope says he was hiking with his wife when he took off, saying he wanted to check out the views at the suspension bridge and take some pictures.
Pope says the man told his wife he was just going to a viewpoint to take a few photos. Panic set in with his wife after he said he would come back and meet her in Lynn Canyon but didn’t show up for more than three hours.
The man turned up after hiking out of the canyon to Panorama Park in Deep Cove, and called police.
It seems to have been a simple case of miscommunication, which resulted in 15 crew members and a helicopter searching for the man.
North Shore Search and Rescue reminds that it’s always a good idea to have a trip plan and a phone.
