Surrey First to unveil new civic slate

Surrey First will enveil its new slate of candidates Wednesday morning but some of the names are already out.

Sources confirm to CKNW that the Surrey civic party has given Linda Hepner the nod to run for the mayors chair to replace Surrey First founder and long time mayor Dianne Watts.

Hepner declined to comment when contacted.

The party will also announce the additions of Dave Woods, Mike Starchuk, and Vera LeFranc as candidates.

They are a Mountie, a firefighter, and Social Services worker respectively.

While she has yet to make it official current councillor and former Surrey First member Barinder Rasode will also challenge for the mayors chair.

Dianne Watts decided not to run again after three terms in the mayors chair and nine years before that on council.
