Families of dog owners host pet safety awareness event

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

The families of the six dogs who perished in the back of a dog walker’s unattended vehicle are gathering to say goodbye in Langley.

Owner of Until We Meet Again Pet Memorial Center Kevin Woronchak says of the purposes of today is to help raise pet safety awareness.

“The families just really wanted to emphasis to not just walk by something that you see, you know a helpless animal in distress, that we do take action.”

Woronchak adds it was important to the families to thank the community.

“So much time and effort to search for their dogs while they were known as missing and they just wanted to say and give back to the community for what they have done and the support they received at the time of their loss”

Anonymous calls can be made to the SPCA or 911 to report unattended dogs left in vehicles on hot days.
