Murder, shooting, and a fatal crash in Surrey

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

It was a busy night in Surrey with a murder, a shooting, and a fatal accident.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and Surrey RCMP are investigating an early-morning murder.

When officers were called to the 1-3-100 Block of 65-B Avenue shortly before 2am for a fight involving a group of men, they found one man dead.

Corporal Bari Imam speaks for I-HIT, “Initially as they arrived at the scene there was an injured man on the roadway and obviously police and ambulance were called to attend and they did. Once the man was transported to hospital, unfortunately later on he died from those injuries.”

He says initially there is no indication this is gang-related.

St. Bernadette Elementary School in Surrey is closed today because of the ongoing murder investigation.

Just after 10pm, RCMP responded to a fatal crash on 152nd Street near 46th Avenue.

A car ran into a parked excavator, killing the driver.

Police say speed was a factor.

And in the dinner hour, a man was shot near 192nd Street and 72nd Avenue in a targeted attack.

His wounds were not life-threatening.
