A Vancouver man who’s on trial for running an underage prostitution ring has been described as an abusive predator by the prosecutor trying to put him behind bars.

Reza Moazami has been taking notes and shaking his head as Crown Counsel Damienne Darby reads from 300 pages detailing 36 crimes involving 11 victims as young as 14.

She argues he was “very much aware” many were under 18 and he “manipulated” them by claiming he loved them, but needed money.

She points out Moazami admitted he lied when he sent a text stating “C’mon baby, I’ve got a mortgage to pay” and he intimidated the girls by threatening to ‘pop’ the heads off dogs he bought them.

Darby argues the admitted pimp, who denies he’s a human trafficker, may not have confined his victims, but he controlled them and forced them to have painful sex with clients.

Closing submissions are not expected to wrap up before Monday.
