BC’s Premier has announced new accountability principles aimed at lowering costs and controlling the spending of Crown Corporations.
Christy Clark announced the Taxpayer Accountability Principles at the Vancouver Leaders’ Dinner Wednesday night, saying the government is keeping it’s promise to ensure taxpayer money is invested wisely.
She says for the first time, every board member of a major Crown Corporation and major entity will have to sign a mandate letter that sets out standards of conduct.
“Control spending, drive down costs while you are preserving and enhancing services for the public. Drive a culture change within your corporation.”
Clark says the government will give guidance on the standards, which will apply to all executives and employees.
