Nearly 20 sports fields around Vancouver are sharing more than 3 million dollars worth of upgrades.
The park board and four local sports clubs are pitching in to build things like washrooms, change rooms, showers and storage.
Park Board chair Aaron Jasper says, “One of the more unique projects that is going to result from this process is the city’s first purpose-built Challenge baseball facility. This facility will be for children with special needs. It was a project that was made possible through the additional support of the Vancouver Canadians and I believe it was around $30,000.”
The 10 projects are up for a vote at Monday night’s park board meeting.
If approved, construction would begin this fall and completed over the next year.
