A jewelry store owner escaped with only minor injuries after an attempted robbery yesterday in Surrey.
Sergeant Thom Thompson says shortly after 5pm police were called to the store at Surrey Central Mall, where they found the victim – and suspect – waiting for them.
“The 50-year old victim sustained a 3-inch gash wound to his scalp, and the suspect was actually tackled at the scene by a witness outside the store and held for police attendance.”
Thompson says while it’s rare for witnesses to get involved -and police do urge caution due to the risk to personal safety – police are grateful for the help this time.
The suspect is in custody awaiting court.
