With grad weekend approaching, the VPD will continue to stop limos and party buses to be sure they are in compliance with the Motor Vehicle and Liquor Control and Licensing Acts.
Last weekend police checked 55 vehicles and handed out 23 tickets for violations, including one driver who had his license seized for operating under the influence of drugs.
Vancouver City Councilor Geoff Meggs says parent’s need to know that operators are not regulated.
“Responsible parents see their kids rent a limo or party bus and they are assuming this is a safe situation. They should not make that assumption. The enforcement results from last weekend show that the driver may not even have a driver’s license.”
In the coming weeks hundreds of party buses and limousines will be stopped as part of the VDP’s campaign.
