Police, ICBC, and the provincial government are urging parents and graduating high school students to plan ahead for a safe ride this grad season–and NOT to drink on so-called “party buses.”
There are far too many tragedies every grad season in BC–Jill Blacklock is ICBC’s Road Safety Manager.
She says, “An average of four teens are killed every year, and 1140 are injured in car crashes (during grad season.)”
Transportation Minister Todd Stone says grads must make good choices about getting home–and that does NOT include drinking on party buses.
He says, “We will not tolerate any behaviour on party buses that is in contravention of the law. First and foremost it’s illegal to have open liquor in any vehicle, including party buses.”
Police plan stepped up enforcement this spring-including a crackdown on party bus drinking.
