School girl stabbed in Delta

A 15 year old female Delta high school student could face criminal charges after allegedly stabbing another student on school grounds earlier today.

Delta Police Sgt. Sarah Swallow says a fight broke out at Delview Secondary School around 2:20pm.

The suspect was arrested and is in custody.

She could face assault-related charges under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

“It would still be under the Criminal Code of Canada, but she will be treated as a youth under the YCJA, which gives slightly different ways in which we have to handle the suspect or the accused.”

The victim was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
