Abbotsford Police cruiser struck by driver

Early Sunday morning an Abbotsford police cruiser was struck by a suspected impaired driver.

The officer was headed to a weapons call when the accident occurred on Townline road.

Constable Paul Walker says the officer saw the vehicle coming up fast behind him.

“He made the effort to move out of the way resulting in an impact by the car behind him which struck the rear end of the police vehicle causing the suspect vehicle to go into the shoulder of the road.”

The officer was uninjured in the crash and the driver was taken into custody and is under investigation for possible impaired driving.
