Two hikers rescued from Mt. Seymour

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

North Shore Search and Rescue plucked two inexperienced hikers off of Seymour Mountain earlier this evening after they became stranded on a steep snow slope.
Search Manager Douglas Pope says the call came in around quarter to 6.

“We launched a rescue from our SAR station at Bone Creek, we helicopter two teams into the summit, did a rope rescue from above and brought the two subjects and our member back up to the summit and helicoptered everyone out.”

Pope says it’s a good reminder to be equipped before venturing into the backcountry as the female subject wore sandals into a snow shed.
Both hikers are ok.

  1. Where are all the screams to charge for this rescue?

Wearing sandals into a snow shed far far out of bounds.
I sure hope she didn’t have a snowboard in a backpack.
