Worker injured in a fall near Deltaport

Three crew members at West Shore Terminals near DeltaPort jumped in the water to rescue one of their own earlier this afternoon.

General Manager Dennis Horgan says the crew member was tying up a large capsize vessel when he got caught in the lines and fell.

“Three Westshore employees immediately responded and jumped in the water to rescue the crew member, our safety boat was launched and the crew member was taken to land and to a waiting ambulance where he was taken to VGH.”

The BC Ambulance Service says the man was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital and was in serious conditon at the time.
