B-C’s Children’s Hospital will be getting a major upgrade with a new facility.
Health Minister Terry Lake says the hospital is in need of the 676 million dollar project.
“It’s been in existence for over 30 years and it’s time to update the facility to ensure that it is in fact in line with the very best facilities available.”
Stephen Forgacs from the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation says the Teck Acute Care Centre will provide many needed changes.
“A new emergency area, new operating rooms, new inpatient units. And it’ll allow families to stay comfortably at their child’s bedside in private rooms.”
The estimated total cost of the project is 676 million dollars.
Construction of the new facility will start this winter.
