NPA Vancouver has jumped on the crowdfunding trend in order to raise money for this November’s civic election battle.
Councillor George Affleck says the party has some ground to make up in order to match Vision Vancouver when it comes to fundraising.
“based on the annual reports from Vision last week we saw that they have hundreds of thousands of dollars stashed away because as the party in power they are able to influence and get money inbetween elections, which the details are never provided to the public.”
Affleck says Vision has hundreds of thousands of dollars stashed away to fund its election battle but not so much the NPA.
“Our immediate goal is to get $250,000 just on this site alone. I think it is ambitious. We are hoping that anything from five-dollars to $50 to $100 or whatever people can afford to make there statement and support the NPA so we can win the election in November.”
As of this post the NPA’s crowdfunding page, with a goal of bringing in 250-thousand dollars, had six contributors donating $682.
The party was also set to introduce its candidates this week but pressed pause due to a screening process it says is taking longer than expected.
